How to Secure a Flatbed Load Correctly

Texas requires that all loads on open trailers be secured so nothing falls or shifts during transport. For most flatbed loads, ratchet straps anchored to the trailer's tie-down rails do the job. The straps need to be rated for the weight of what you are hauling, and any strap that shows wear or fraying should be replaced before use.

For heavy steel, pipe, and large structural materials, chains and load binders are the right choice over straps. These materials are common in Irving's commercial and industrial supply environment, so if that is what you are hauling, arrive at the loading point with the correct securement equipment. Big Rentals walks through securement at pickup for every flatbed trailer rental in Irving.
