Tilt Deck vs. Ramp Equipment Trailers:
Which Type Fits the Machine

Ground clearance is the deciding factor. Compact skid steers, mini excavators, and most small tracked machines sit low to the ground. A ramp creates a steep approach angle where the undercarriage can make contact before the machine clears the top of the ramp. A tilt deck eliminates that problem by lowering the deck itself to ground level so the machine drives on smoothly.

Machines with more clearance, like larger excavators and heavier agricultural or industrial equipment, load on ramp trailers without the same concern. Ramp trailers also tend to offer higher weight ratings for heavier machines. Big Rentals rents both configurations in Corpus Christi, and providing the machine make and model at the time of rental helps confirm the right type.
